So close!

As we say in our house, “It’s Christmas Eve Eve!”

Two days left.

It’s almost time for that most holy of nights when we stop all the preparation and receive the gift we have been waiting for.

Whether your Advent has been filled with Christmas carols and daily devotional reflections, with stress and way too many commitments and hassles, or with pain and sorrow, the wait is coming to a close.

It’s almost time to put everything down and come to the stable. We don’t have to be perfect. We don’t have to bring anything. We just have to come. We will find Him wrapped in swaddling clothes and laying in a manger - a feeding trough. From the beginning of Jesus’ life, everything about Him tells us that He has come to sustain us and give us life.

Whatever your Advent looked like, I pray that in these last couple days you can turn your gaze to Jesus and open your arms to receive Him. Maybe in a small, quiet way. Maybe with the songs of the angels. Whether in the quiet or in the chaos, let us approach the manger and discover the gift of our Lord in a beautiful, new way this Christmas.
