God and Science
Did you know that the Big Bang Theory supports the Bible and the story of creation? In fact, a Catholic priest, Father Georges Lemaire, proposed the theory in the first place.
So many people think that science, religion, and faith are incompatible, but if God created the world, if God actually exists, how could science be something that doesn't give us glimpses of Him?
My family and I were in the Houston Museum of Natural Science this summer (great place, by the way), and tucked down in the basement was an interactive display that went through the timeline of the Big Bang Theory.
Three panels in, and we were still at less than a trillionth of a second. All of a sudden, the time spreads out a little bit and there is a dark, formless void filled with plasma, a hot soup of sorts. And then at about 400,000 years in - there is light. Sound familiar?
In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless wasteland, and darkness covered the abyss, while a mighty wind swept over the waters. Then God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. (Genesis 1:1-3)
I thought so.
